Principal’s MessageTom Ott

Dear Friends,

Welcome to the Technical Education Center Osceola!  I feel incredibly fortunate to have the opportunity to work with the staffulty, students, families, and our business and community partners as TECO’s Principal.  I have had the opportunity to experience a number of the wonderful opportunities that Career and Technical Education provides for our students throughout my professional career.  I began my career as an educator by teaching what was then the Computers for College and Careers course at University High School in Orange County and experienced the power of CTE through students earning college credit through the tech prep assessment my course offered.  I eventually made my way to Orange Technical College as an Assistant Director before coming to TECO.  To round out my experience, I have also been a Dean and an Assistant Principal for both a middle and high school.

We use the word “staffulty” at TECO because of our belief that everyone who is part of our family is equally important in changing the lives of our students each and every day.  More than ever before, Career and Technical Education is gaining momentum in our ability to create career pathways for students that will lead them to gainful employment in high wage/high skill career while giving them opportunities for future educational opportunities.  At TECO, we have a commitment to quality, professionalism, and character as we Change lives Through Education.

As we move through the 2016-2017 school year, we are making positive changes that will ultimately lead to greater student success.  While change may be difficult at first, I am confident that we will move through it together and see that it was worth every moment as our students achieve greater heights.  In the coming months, you will see our programs engaging in new opportunities for our students, additional services to be provided to our students and partners, a multitude of opportunities for growth for our staff, and new partnerships being created while we strengthen those we currently have.

It is an exciting time to be involved with TECO and I invite you to stop by whenever you are near one of our campuses to see for yourself the great things that are happening here, to see how you can get involved with our school, or to just say hi.
