An Orientation session for all incoming cadets is held approximately 2-3 weeks before a new Academy class begins.

Students are strongly encouraged to attend Orientation.

This session is extremely informative and helps applicants and newly accepted recruits to understand all admissions requirements. Discussion will include uniform purchase guidelines, attendance requirements, academic expectations, testing standards, firearms equipment, and physical training demands. It is also an opportunity for students to ask specific questions and gain insight into the current law enforcement employment market.

Orientation is typically 2.5-3 hours in length and if possible, will include an opportunity to hear current recruits or former graduates describe their training experience and meet with them personally to answer questions.

Attendees will be afforded an opportunity to watch portions of training in action during a video presentation and will receive all of the necessary forms and instructions to purchase uniforms and suggested Academy class supplies. Examples of uniform clothing will be available to inspect/handle. Registration information, including Florida residency admissions paperwork, will also be distributed during Orientation. Professional casual dress is recommended.
